Day 27 - Home has my Heart

Welcome to Day 27 and Happy Tuesday!

Growing up, watching Miss America was one of those things that felt larger than life.

Over the years, as I became involved with Miss Oklahoma, I began to understand what I couldn’t have understood from my living room. Pageants can sometimes carry a stereotype that they are mostly about beauty and competition. But when you get close enough to know the women behind all of that, you realize how incomplete that picture is.

I have watched young women learn how to walk into a room with confidence and handle disappointment with grace. Also, I have seen them speak about things that matter to them and form friendships with women they might otherwise never have met. The competition may be what everyone sees, but it is such a small part of what they take with them.

While in West Palm Beach for Miss America this week, I am surrounded by women who all came here from somewhere they’re incredibly proud to call home. Naturally, my heart is in Oklahoma, but watching each of them represent her own corner of the country makes you realize how much of where we come from becomes a part of who we are.

For Day 27, the HOME Bracelet is available for all 50 states, as well as Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico. A few states are not yet photographed, but they are available. Just click on the name of the state that you want! 

Made with substantial 10–11mm cast brass beads, each bracelet has a hand cast shape that gives it so much character and weight.
