Day 30 - Full Circle (with Day 2, Pearl Possibilities as bonus!)

Welcome to Day 30 of the 30 Days of Design.

You know how much I love a statement piece. This is that.

Today’s design is one I’ve been working on for the last few months.  I’ve actually been wearing it here at Miss America this week and have been so excited to finally show you all.

This entire piece is cast brass. What I love most about cast brass is the weight and the texture.  There are also little irregularities in the surface that are part of the casting process, so it has this beautiful, almost found-object quality to it.

I wanted this final design to have a centerpiece that was oversized and substantial, but not polished into something perfectly symmetrical. The shape is intentionally organic and looks almost like something that has been collected over time rather than something that was just made. It also has that wonderful weight to it that I LOVE in a statement bracelet.

And since we’ve made it all the way to Day 30, I thought we should come Full Circle.

Well, almost full circle.

We’re going all the way back to Day 2, Pearl Possibilities. I’m including it with Full Circle as one final 30 Days of Design bonus because I love the way Day 2 will complement Day 30! : )
